The SATDOCKU3SEF Hard Drive Docking Station (eSATA/USB 3.0 to SATA) delivers quick and easy access to a 2.5in or 3.5in SATA hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD) through either eSATA or USB connectivity, making it compatible with almost any system. The docking station features a built-in 80mm cooling fan that provides increased reliability and lifespan to HDDs by keeping the drives cooler. The variable fan speed control allows for on-the-fly adjustments for any type of HDD, or to balance cooling with noise. The docking station supports full eSATA data transfer rates of up to 3 Gbps, and USB 3.0 transfer rates up to 5 Gbps while backward compatible with USB 2.0 system transfer rates of up to 480 Mbps. For an even more versatile storage solution, this eSATA/USB 3.0 HDD docking station can be used with our SATA to IDE hard drive adapter (SAT2IDEADP) enabling you to use 2.5in or 3.5in IDE hard drives with the dock.

This multi-function USB dock enables an extra VGA graphics display, speakers/mic, and keyboard/mouse to be added to any PC via a USB cable up to 5 meters away (cable included). Connect one to use as a universal laptop docking station. Or connect many DC-125 units to a server with special software, to enable many users to share one machine (requires compatible multiseat OS software such as Windows Multiseat Server 2011 or Userful Multiseat Linux 2011, not included).

Connectivity and Technology

A single USB 2.0 cable between PC and dock carries all data and power (for easy USB dock/undock). Standard female VGA/D-Sub port from docking station to monitor drives modes up to 1280x1024 / 1440x900 on any monitor, using internal DisplayLink DL-125 chipset and Windows software drivers provided by DisplayLink. Open source drivers in Linux kernel. Mac beta software for Snow Leopard 10.6 and Lion 10.7.2 and later. Standard 3.5mm audio in and out for stereo speakers and microphone.

Hardware Compatibility

Dual Core or 2Ghz CPU or better recommended. Requires main Intel, ATI, or nVidia GPU with WDDM and Aero support enabled in Windows (older GPUs like Matrox G200-based servers not supported). USB graphics devices with technology from different chipset vendors (MCT, SMSC, DisplayLink, etc.) should not be mixed on the same system.

Power

No AC adapter needed - USB bus powered. Does not charge laptop. The dock's two free USB 2.0 ports have sufficient power for connecting a USB keyboard and USB mouse only (higher power peripherals like USB flash drives not supported).

Touch-Activated Controls
Controlling the iCrystal is a breeze. Gently touch the control buttons to raise or lower the volume and to control playback. The sensors react only to the human touch.

Sound and Vision
The first thing anybody would notice about the iCrystal is its unique speaker design, with two teardrop shapes hovering above each speaker. These "teardrops" provide the speaker with its great retro looks and actually help the unit deliver a more 360-degree sound, for filling up the room.
